The Love Song of Life

It’s hard to imagine, understandably, when there is so much strife in our world.
But life is, in fact, a love song.
It’s a love song sung into existence by a great and ever-present longing to be.

In every animal caught in a trap, desperately trying to escape and live, the love song is being sung.
In every broken person struggling to survive in the filthy slums of our world, there is a love song, slums that exist because of social and economic systems that prioritise profit over people’s wellbeing.

In the cries of every hungry child, desperate for nourishment from an exhausted mother who walks miles each day across parched landscapes in search of food, these, too, are love songs being sung.

The flower that grows ever more beautiful over millennia to better attract the bees; bees who’ll make honey from its pollen, feeding other bees, who’ll then pollinate even more flowers to become the sea of colour we now see in the grassy fields of our precious Earth.

The wind, the rain, the scattered leaves of trees nourishing the soil for all other creatures, plants, and for themselves… These are all love songs too.

Countless trillions of animals, plants, and insects that once lived, sang their songs, and died, their bodies and matter decaying into rich thick layers over millions of years to become the soil we now use to grow food. This is the love song of life.

I know, it’s hard to see, especially now, with all the men and women dying horrifically on the battlefields of our world today, and the haunting images of children starving at the hands of corruption, greed, and apathy.

But it is visible.

And you can find it in your own heart too even now.
Even amidst the pollution, the plastic waste, and the degradation of our world.
Even when so many of our fellow humans, misguided as they are, are willing to destroy lives, habitats, and the planet for their distorted and delusional vision of wealth and security.

It is found equally in the tears of pain and suffering as in the tears of joy and happiness.

You can find it, despite all of this, because you are that love song of life, and in living and acting on behalf of others, making choices for the good of all, you can manifest a love song of transformation and sing that into the world.

You have an opportunity right now to do and become just that, to be the voice of that love song:
For yourself.
For your children.
For all other people, animals, and trees.
And for all the tiny creatures of our world who try to sing their song of love through their brief, fleeting little lives to give all they have of themselves to this world, to you, to us, and to everything else that is and will ever long to be, here on Earth.

There has never been a more important time to start singing.
And to sing your loudest,
For all living things.. than right now.
