Some of you have asked who’s behind e2point0, so here’s a little about me.
I value my privacy and enjoy the freedom of being nobody in particular. I often sit alone in cafes, quietly working on my phone or laptop while the world passes by. That freedom means a lot to me.
I feel content and complete in my own being, but always enjoy a meaningful interaction with another caring soul in this world.
My background is varied. As a young adult I worked briefly as a commercial pilot, later studied computer sciences, owned and operated a couple of small cafes, and taught myself digital graphic art. Eighteen years ago a hobby in robotics, aviation, and automation grew into a business, then a company, then a public company. That environment proved immensely challenging and after a difficult exit a few years ago, I redirected my time and limited resources toward what matters most to me: rescuing animals, supporting poorer communities, and building this project.
Nothing gives me more joy or sense of fulfilment than bringing safety and peace to a scared, desperate, abandoned animal, and where possible, finding ways to support local people in poorer communities to better care for themselves and the animals around them.
Michelangelo once said about his masterpieces: ‘The sculpture is already complete within the marble block. Before I start my work it is already there. I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.’
This is true for the animals I rescue. My gift to them is simply providing an opportunity for what’s already within them to rise to the surface: the ease and rest, the joy and playfulness that emerges naturally once they feel safe and loved.
And it is true for all of us as well. Removing what is false reveals what was always there: the joy, compassion, and peace that rises to the surface when fear and anxiety are allowed to lift away.
Events in early childhood shaped this life’s pathway, and I’m grateful for where it led: to a profound compassion for all of life and a deeper understanding of our relationship to existence and to each other.
That understanding didn’t come quickly. It unfolded over more than two decades of searching, reading, retreating, meditating, and questioning. The journey took many forms and eventually led to a moment of profound clarity that changed everything.
What remained after that moment was raw and simple: an all-encompassing awareness, untainted by any idea, belief, or past experience. It was pure. It was beautiful. And a deep, underlying love pervaded everything.
The years that followed brought new questions, and one by one the answers came, often in unexpected ways.
A few years ago, after the ending of my association with the company I had co-founded, I found myself staring into an open and empty space which asked just one question:
If I could do anything at all, what would it be?
And the answer was clear: help our humanity evolve beyond the patterns that have been creating suffering, poverty, conflict, and ecological destruction for as long as we can remember.
And so here we are. e2point0.
I’ve built this invitation and put some life into it. The rest is entirely up to you.
I care deeply for all of you, for all our animals, and for the ecosystems that sustain us. I would love to see this world turn that corner, in my lifetime or in yours.
And when it does, it will be because of you. Because you cared enough to try. Because you picked up the torch and shone your light on the pathway for others to follow.
With all my heart, Rob
